Armistice Day Service 2023

On Saturday 11 November 2023 the Museum’s annual Armistice Day Remembrance Service was held in the Memorial Garden. In beautiful autumn sunshine, the service was conducted by Reverend Trevor Marshall, the Museum’s Honorary Chaplain and was attended by many members and friends of the Museum. The music was provided by the Worthing Silver Band who gave an excellent rendition of the ‘Last Post’. Three British Legion standard bearers were also in attendance.

The Museum’s Chairman, Dudley Hooley, read the citation and the Director, Paul Constable AFC, laid a wreath on behalf of the Museum’s trustees and staff. Charles Hutcheon, the Museum’s Curator, laid a wreath to seven crew members who perished when a Halifax crashed eighty years ago at RAF Tangmere on 19 November 1943. He laid it on behalf of Aly Etherington, a great niece of one of the crew.
